Current Thoughts...
Independence and what this means to me?? Well, it truly means a lot! To simply put it - "something sacred, to be treasured & passed on to the next generation".
I, for one, take pride in being an Indian, not because it is riding high on the achievements of NRIs, IITians, Indian Business Tycoons, Indian Technocrats etc., but for the fact that am a part of this 'New Emerging India'. Thanks to all those who have made India proud within and abroad. If not for their invaluable contributions, we still would have been a "Third World Country". This paradigm shift in India's status on the economic world map does not call for an individual to bask in the glory of achievements of India as an economic super-power in the making. Still lot needs to be done! What we hear of India's progress on the economic front is just a miniscule of the macro problems solved. There are scores of people who still strive for a morsel, a roof on their head and a minimal clothing. I firmly believe that individual's economic progress alone perhaps will bring down the GNP rate (Gross National Poverty) and education alone can uproot this and other social issues.
The generation privy to both the bad and the good times India has witnessed are the fortunate ones in its truest sense - having witnessed the technological advancement to mobile revolution in India to boom in Indian economy to recognition of Indians worldwide. No doubt, Brand-India has come of age. But, it's the Indianess that has waded the underdogs through the darkness of "Third-World" tag!
